The Chicago Lions Charitable Association is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization established on July 27th, 2011. The CLCA is a separate legal entity than Chicago Lions Rugby with its own board of directors, separate financial requirements and segregated funds.
As the CLCA promotes a love for rugby among its youth served, it hopes to foster and promote amateur rugby sports competition more broadly among the general populations. Through this multi-generational charitable approach, the CLCA can promote healthy physical activities in a competitive environment, thereby producing better citizens in Chicago and beyond.
The CLCA will promote:
- Charitable programs for Chicago’s inner city youth – one example is Chicago Lions Rugby’s relationship with Chicago Hope Academy.
- Additional charitable programs – Chicago Lions Rugby has worked to develop other youth rugby programs in Chicago’s city and suburbs, including Illinois Youth Rugby, a 501(c)(3) umbrella program formed and managed by Lions alumni and multiple school and park district club programs in the Chicago area.
- Rugby through competitive amateur sports competition – Support amateur rugby more expansively through amateur competitive sports competition at the national and even the international level through Chicago Lions Rugby.
